I’m a fiction writer, lapsed historian, and occasional art critic.

My short fiction has been shortlisted for Galley Beggar Short Story Prize (2021) and The White Review Short Story Prize (2017). It’s also appeared in The Cincinnati Review and been named an “Other Distinguished Story” in The Best American Short Stories 2021.

My novel in progress Joplin was shortlisted for the 2018 Lucy Cavendish Fiction Prize.

I have an MA with Distinction in Creative Writing at the University of East Anglia, where I received the David Higham Award.  In 2014-15 I was mentored by Amy Sackville through the Writers’ Centre Norwich Inspires/Escalator scheme (now the National Centre for Writing). I’m currently doing a PhD in Creative & Critical Writing at UEA.

Under a different name, I interned and wrote for The A.V. Club (The Onion) and Philadelphia-area newspapers. I have a BA in history, summa cum laude, from Bryn Mawr; spent a year studying modern history at Pembroke College, University of Oxford; and have an MA with Distinction in Eastern and Central European history from University College London.

I’m American and British. I grew up in Ohio and now live in London, where I work as a copywriter.
